Disrupting Illusions. Restoring Self-Trust. Making Space for What’s Next.
I write from the same heart for different spaces—the corporate world, the academy, the university, and the field. Whether I am teaching, consulting, or creating, my work is about disrupting illusions, restoring self-trust, and giving people permission to reclaim the intuition they have outsourced. Intuition that is necessary to resist empire, cultivate new ways of knowing, and actualize freedom.
I do not write to preserve what was. I write to make space for what is needed now.
Who I Am
I am Tamice Spencer-Helms (they/she), a theologian, public speaker, curriculum developer, and consultant based in Richmond, Virginia. With over two decades of experience in young adult leadership, spiritual innovation, and social change, I blend scholarship and lived experience to offer insights into soulful leadership, liberation theology, and cultural transformation.
I am the founder of:
• R.E.S.T. Mixtape – A transformative framework for radical truth-telling, deep spiritual embrace, surrendering illusion, and tethering to wisdom, rooted in Black cultural creativity, hush harbor wisdom, and mixtape methodology.
• The Soulful Leadership Project – Developing liberatory leadership frameworks that center ethical imagination, radical truth, and communal transformation.
• Sub:Culture Inc. – Supporting the self-actualization of Black students through holistic care, crisis relief, and a reparations-based model for academic success and well-being.
I hold two master’s degrees in theology and leadership and am currently pursuing doctoral studies in social transformation. My work moves between the field, the academy, and the spaces where people gather to build something new.
What I Write About
• Clearing Consciousness – A post-Christian, post-digital, post-empire way of seeing, knowing, and becoming.
• Culture as Sacred Text – The wisdom encoded in hip-hop, Black cultural creativity, and the fugitive tradition.
• The Future of Faith – Moving beyond the church-industrial complex toward spiritual fugitivity and new wineskins.
• Liberation Technology – How we design systems, spaces, and structures that fit the people they serve.
• Radical Theology and Ethics – Disrupting empire’s grip on theology and reclaiming ethical imagination.
Why This Space Exists
I use culture as sacred text to alchemize a cure for spiritual illusion and disillusionment, helping people recover what was lost, left behind, or worth reclaiming.
I write for those who:
• Feel displaced in faith spaces but still long for meaning.
• Are tired of deconstruction that leads nowhere.
• Know that theology, culture, and leadership must be reimagined from the ground up.
This is a space for spiritual fugitivity, ethical imagination, and cultural disruption. Whether you are in the corporate world, the academy, the university, or on the ground doing the work, Clearing Consciousness is for you.
Subscribe, engage, and step into the clearing.
